Australian Cypress Flooring – With its plentiful dark character knots and wide range of straw and honey brown tones, Australian Cypress is an ideal flooring choice for a rustic, country sitting. It is the only commercial softwood that is harder than red oak and is one of the most stable flooring woods; it seems to expand and contract with temperature and moisture variations at a much smaller degree than other wood choices.
Due its inherent rustic properties, Australian Cypress is available only in a natural grade. Owners should expect small checking (cracks) to occur over time, especially around knots. This is normal and should be considered to be a part of the character with this species.
