Hard Maple Flooring – Hard Maple is generally graded differently than most other domestic hardwoods. The highest grade, 1st Grade (pictured) is selected for its very clean look, with the least amount of character of the other grades. Its often referred to as “White Hard Maple”. Lower grades of Hard Maple can result in drastic changes to the appearance, as 3rd Grade may more closely resemble the color variations of Hickory.
Hard Maple is rated at 1450lbs on the Janka Hardness Scale. This hardness along with its very clean look makes Hard Maple the most widely used wood flooring for sports floors.
